Re: Placement of hundreds or components

I think I've done something similar - in my case I wanted a 'city skyline' with heights that would be randomized each time the composition was opened.

Put the cube inside an iterator patch instead of rep in space, and add some math on the iterator variables to position them where you want.  Add a JS patch outside the iterator that creates an array of Y values, pass that array into the iterator.  Now, inside the iterator, use "structure index member" to get the specific Y value for that cube.

Let me know if that didn't make sense and I'll make a quick mockup.

Now this is a simple mock-up, but imagine you want to place dozens/hundreds/many more cubes/sprites etc on the canvas.  You want them to sit a certain distance apart from each other, easy with the Replicate in Space node.  But, you then want the Y placement effected by an audio source.  If I try this with the Rep in Space, they all move.  Can this be done simply, or do I manually have to place and connect the nodes?

Any help would be appreciated.

A.
