Help needed with Interpolation Patch

Hi everyone,

I'm extremely new to this and have found this mailing lists
archives very helpful so far :) Moreso, even than the
documentation for Quartz Composer!

Could somebody please explain to me what the "interpolation
patch" settings mean and do? I'm using one to control the
playback speed of a quicktime video in a screensaver.

It seems that the numbers that affect playback of the quicktime
movie are "End Value" and "Duration." (I have no idea what the
other settings do. Well... except for "loop" ;) ) I've been
playing around with those two values to speed up or slow down
the playback, but I really don't know what I'm doing. I noticed
that sometimes with lower numbers the playback jumps. Again, I
don't really know why because I don't really understand how
these work!

Ultimately, I'd like to set one of those numbers to whatever
"the best" setting would be, and have the other number available
as an "input setting" for the user so they can choose the speed
that they'd like for the screensaver playback.

Any help in explaining the significance and functions of the
"interpolation patch" settings, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
-Melissa
