Re: Possible to show cocoa controls over QCView?

Just out of curiosity, what is the reason they are not composited
together like one would think... is it because an openGL context
is not compatible with a CGContext? But with Quartz2d Extreme
shouldn't they be one in the same?

That's right, a CGContext bitmap is in RAM and an OpenGL surface is in VRAM

Quartz 2D Extreme could allow to make the 2 compatible, but it is not active in Mac OS X Tiger anyway

I see, thanks.
Well, I got it working by combining the GL-Underlay surface example and the QCRenderer.
I got cocoa controls showing "over" the Quartz Composer rendering. Its pretty cool.

Just one last question, is it safe to call/perform the rendering from a separate thread so that my app logic
doesn't stutter the rendering like when saving etc....?

Thanks for the help.
