I've been contemplating using QC for a robotics project we're investigating here at TU Delft. The goal is to be able to send a remote video feed from an iBook powered robot, back to an operator and potentially a couple specialist viewers. QC is to come in handy for doing various real time manipulations (hough transforms, 3d inference, and camera arrangement) both on the robot itself, as well as on the remote machines. To accomplish this we're attempting to use Wirecast coupled with some custom QC patches. The most immediate concern is the need to be able to patch in live video from a remote source. For now we're just using iChat over bon jour, but we need to be able to use that in QC locally. I was contemplating the feasibility of creating a Generator patch that acted like Video Input (or Image Downloader for that matter) but instead of a firewire camera, it takes an RTSP URL as the source/input device. Or even better, route in a one way video stream (maybe iChat AV service?), but figured RTSP would be easier to start... anyone know how practical this would be or suggest any pointers on how to start? thanks, - martin voshell ======================================= martin voshell cognitive systems engineering laboratory :2005 the ohio state univ. |
