QC 101: How can I add an "image" published output to a macro patch?

I'd like to take what's generated by a macro patch and, say, feed it into a Gaussian blur, etc. If I want to modify the entirety of what a macro generates (e.g., change the hue, pixellate it, etc.) I can't see how to do so.
