Audio Input

Is there any way I can limit the frequency of how often the audio input patch provides samples? I want to create a composition driven by audio, but as it is raw, the image changes too frequently. My gut feeling is that this can be accomplished somehow using a conditional, but I haven't been able to figure out how.
