Can you not use the "image with string" object?
This does seem to work a little better in terms of smooth
text.

Hi everybody - new to the list as I've just started using Quartz
Composer in a bit more depth than I have before.
I am trying to feed a rather large image to a QC composition, and
I'm surprised by the degradation that occurs while displaying the
image with a Billboard patch set to width 2.0:
The degradation doesn't occur until the height of the image reaches
a certain threshold. If I increase the height yet further it
becomes even more degraded in QC.
Is there someway I can coerce QC into handling this size of image
with a bit more grace? For some perspective on what I'm doing I'm
trying to map the contents of an arbitrarily long styled text
editor into a QC composition. If QC had built-in styled text
rendering I would do it that way, but as far as I can tell
converting to an image may be my only choice.
I really appreciate your help!
