Help-MIDI from IAC bus not working!

Even though you can select the IAC bus as a source for QC, it
does not respond to anything from that source.
Other apps work ok, As do inputs from a MIDI keyboard.

Anyone got this working?
Its not the problem with octave 3 appearing as  octave 5, which was my
first thought.
Bit of a showstopper for me this one...
