bob, you could use an iterator to place individual strips for the road.
use the normalized index to look up into an interpolator patch to control
the spacing.  this is the best way to go if you are looking for a non-linear
distribution.  you can then control the x position using an lfo or interpolator
multiplied by another interpolator to control motion falloff with "distance".
