This may be out of scope for QC itself, but the people who care about it are probably here. It might be useful to have a 'DV Control' system preference pane. Much like the CDs & DVDs prefs. Here you could control which apps have control of cameras, decks and other such things. Like for DV cameras there could be "automatic" which would be default, you could pick an app which always has control, or have a list of apps who's order you could drag around.. their priority for having access would be dictated by this order. Similar functionality for decks. Because otherwise it seems like the best way to handle the below problem of the finder taking control of the camera is to quit the Finder (http://www.resexcellence.com/hack_html_01/08-13-01.shtml).
