I stand agog at the power of cocoa... I never tried just binding the selected values structure because I just assumed it
wouldn't work as it just seemed too simple .....

and thanks for the trick on popups, I had tried dragging items on before but not after double clicking first...

is it possible using interface builder to make a toggle button that switches the "multiple selection" value of
an ns matrix? eg so a button can toggle exclusive selection on a matrix?

I'll upload some example nibs and macros that readĀ useful button combos when I get it worked out a bit more

thanks very much this is going to make everything much simpler...
