| Hi all - I fairly certain that what I want to do it easy as sin, but I can't figure out how to do it in such a way that it runs smoothly on any machine I have (including a Quad G5/nvidia 6600)... I am basically looking to create an effect similar to "Aurora Borealis." My idea was just to create a particle patch, motion blur it, and have the particles change colors. I can create that composition and it looks and runs fine in the small viewer. However, the second you crank up the size at all, it slows to a crawl. As I am not very proficient at QC, and I had experimented a lot with different things, I assumed I had done something goofy half way through and decided to start over, testing at each step to see where the slow down is coming from. This time, I made an image patch containing a clear and a particle generator with 50 particles connected to a sprite. Works fine at all sizes. I then ran the image through a gaussian blur before the sprite and once again I get a complete slow down. So, if I am doing something wrong, I would love for someone to enlighten me. However, it is my guess that this is just not the way to accomplish what I want, and I was hoping that someone might be able to help me get to the "proper" way of doing things. Thanks, Nate |
