Re: QC recording application

the current QCTV source code needs to be fixed for Intel
http://developer.apple.com/samplecode/QuartzComposer_WWDC_QCTV/ listing12.html

Replace GL_UNSIGNED_INT_8_8_8_8_REV with GL_UNSIGNED_INT_8_8_8_8

We, too, are trying to use the QCTV code base for an app, but we seem to be at a dead end with it (for Intel). The QT movie export feature seems to show up something very odd...

Exporting video to a QT movie on a PPC machine works fine. But try it from an Intel Mac (MacBook Pro in my case), even rebuilding QCTV Intel native. The resulting movie's luminance and chrominance values are vastly out of balance, sort of a badly washed-out blue monochrome, regardless of the compression type. Using the built-in iSight or an external iSight gives the same results. The live video looks fine; it's the exported QT movie that's affected.

So, is this a fault of QCTV, or is there some sort of odd low-level Intel/QC/QT interplay going on here? We're stumped.

Thanks for your help!

I was just curious because i tried it with a composition that was around 640x480 and i was only getting 1 or 2 frames a second. Perhaps my
composition was too heavy.

I've not used it much. I don't now if it will be lean enough to record full screen while a composition is playing, but it worked well for me . . . but its free so there is no harm in trying it.

PS. I'm not affiliated with the developer in anyway. :-)

Have you managed to get decent performance with this app?

Hi all, I'm a student just finished my quartz composer degree artifact for University, thing is my external examiner has requested that I make videos of my qc artifact (because of course he has to be a PC boy with no access to a Apple mac running OSX!!). I have been looking into modifying Pol's QCTV with QuickTime export but i cannot enable keyboard presses or mouse movements. And I'm running out of time fast.

I was just wondering if someone had created a Cocoa application that I could loan to load my qc composition into that allows me to use Midi, keyboard commands, mouse movements and record to a QuickTime format.
