I'm currently trying to configure a mac pro tower with 3xNvidia
7300GT graphics cards for a video installation project. We hope to
use 4x video outs as well as one main user interface display.
I'm aware I can't spread one qc across all the displays, however I
was hoping to be able to play 4 seperate qc files, one on each
display.
That doesn't seem to be possible, if I drag a qc file in quicktime
player from screen to screen it goes to pure white if I put it onto
any display which is coming off a second or third graphics card.
whats going on? I thought that with PCI-Express machines, core
image was fully supported on secondary display cards? System
Profiler does tell me that core image is supported on all displays.
Whats the technical limitation here? Any way of playing back
quartz composer files on all displays at once? (each qc file
fullscreen on one display)
Indeed, QT seems to have some issues using CoreVideo on
configurations with multiple cards, even if all are supported. First
make sure you have the latest OS & QT updates.
You might have to use a customized version of the Player sample code
in /Developer/Examples/Quartz Composer. The only thing to change I
think is the constant kCGDirectMainDisplay to the proper display ID
of the screen you want the app to render to. Then you launch 3 copies
of the app.
