No you cannot record the video stream to disk from within QC


That explains why I couldn't export a video-on-rotating-cube to QuickTime . Perhaps the export-to-QT dialog should give a warning that not everything will export? Better would be to add the ability to capture every part of a QC animation to video from within QC, but at least warn us that something won't work, by design.

No that would be a different issue: the original question was about recording a video input stream, not playing a movie file.


In your case, it might not work because the movie file you play on the cube is using a relative path instead of absolute.
