It seems to me that the BIG difference between playing back a video, and
Quartz Composer, is all the extra processing going on in the Graphics Card.
I would try limiting the Frame Rate of Quartz Player to whatever the frame
rate of the video is, and see if it isn't a factor of Quartz trying to act
like a hyperactive puppy and discover new things to do every fraction of a
second.
Did anyone mention if they were playing the video to a Billboard or a
Sprite?
