Re: Custom 3D Meshes in QC

There are some "hidden patches" available, I haven't tried them myself but apparently they enable some other 3d primatives, including a torus.

I have also been waiting for a new version of the 3d importer patch (or really more hopeful that this functionality is somehow included in tiger) but I am one of the many with nothing to offer in return for such a gift, so I'm continuing to wait : )

Well, there used to be a working 3ds Max model importer that worked well in ppc systems, but not on intel; if someone can look at it and rewrite it...

I am interested to know if anyone has written a patch to import custom 3D meshes into QC? The sphere and cube are fine for some things. Cylinder and a torus meshes would also be a nice edition to round out the primitive list. Of course, it is feasible to build any mesh you want using a series of sprites, but not very efficient. Any ideas on the subject of custom 3D mesh importing?

Cheers,
Mike
