ok, well at least there's a solution. i'm planning on installing
leopard very soon.
also, the live video feed is actually working, sorry for that false
alarm.
thanks for the quick response and info!

You will need Leopard for QC to work properly when multiple video

i am unable to have live video feed or a quicktime movie play in
QC, directly from the video module into billboard. very
frustrating, because QC has worked for me splendidly in the past
on my lowly g4 powerbook. i purchased a beastly new mac pro to,
among other things, create some demanding QC patches, and i can't
even get a video to play! the core image seems to be working ok,
i can load in images and play with their alpha and color just fine.
quicktime movies play fine themselves out of QC, and i can see the
preview from my isight when i go there from the QC inspector.
mac pro 3.0 quad, 10gb ram, os 10.4.11, radeon x1900 and nvidea
7300gt (maybe that second card is part of the problem?)
i am really reluctant to pull that second video card out just for
QC, as i use it to run a third monitor in a different area of my
room for recording drums and stuff. does anyone know if leopard
still has issues with multiple video cards? pretty goddamn
ridiculous that apple only allows you a choice of 3 video cards,
and of those only one at a time reliably. maybe there's a way to
disable the second video card through software, without having to
open up the case and yank it? perhaps the second card is not the
issue, but i've seen that hinted at in other posts to this list.
help meh!
