Re: qc window position

Hi James!

If I'm not totally mistaken, you can't get the current rendering destination's position on the screen in QC.
I think the right approach is really a custom application, as you suggested, that simply forwards the window's position to the appropriate published Input Ports of your composition. There's no need for a custom patch here.

Here are some resources that might be interesting:
QCCompositionRenderer Protocol reference, especially the - setValue:forInputKey: method: http://tinyurl.com/2tzthc
NSWindow class reference, especially the -windowDidMove: notification: http://tinyurl.com/35e27m
Maybe creating windows without a title bar: http://www.cocoadev.com/index.pl?WindowsWithoutDecoration

Hope that helps,

Marco

Hi - using the rendering destination dimensions patch I can find out about the size and shape of the composition but how can I find out where the window is?

If I really need to do this will I have to create my own application complete with a window containing a QCView and then send this windows position to a custom plugin?

Thanks in advance - James
