I have worked upon some patches in using this technique of detecting
movement by color difference. I did some interesting work overlaying
twio videos based on one's movement. You can download files at:

Its very simplsitic becuase i used only quartz composer. I have also
seen the above mentioned red ball demo and it was quite interesting
but they used more hard core programming..
