Funny you mention radial menus a la shake and whatnot, this is
exactly what I am working on for my VJ app, but soo much to do. :)
Flames gesture support and various node based VFX workflow tools
have been partially the inspiration for some of the UI I want to make.
Theres nothing to stop anyone writing their own node editor front end
which creates qc comp files. the file format is
xml, you could happily use the qc api to create an alternate node
editor with more features.
for a free developer tool I think the current interface is pretty
good, and I work with it almost full time.
