newbie: getting movie size

Hi,
I am creating a website where users can upload quicktime video content. I
need a way to find out the width and height of the uploaded movie so that
when I come to display it I can do so embedded in a webpage correctly. The
website is written in php and running on linux servers. I have had a look
into the quicktime API which seems to be only available for windows and is
abit beyond me as I'm not a c programmer. I also looked into the quicktime
file format which seems for hopeful - would i be able to read the file into
php, find the location of a track atom and extract the width and height
information from there? I've looked at various .mov files in my hex editor
and this doesn't seem as easy as I might have presumed...
I know that a company that I have worked with before has solved this
problem - I think by using the quicktime API on windows.. If this is the
only way to solve the problem then there may be a windows machine available,
it just seems to me that this shouldn't be necessary...
Thanks in advance for any help or to anyone who can point me in the right
direction, I hope that this question isn't too basic to ask here - I
searched the archives and came up blank,
Cheers,
Kelvin.
