greetings,

we are developing a movie format and a player on WINDOWS.
that format is an individual form,
and the audio compression uses MP3.

we want to develop the player that can playback this format on Mac.
we will develop the video codec as QuickTime component.

can decoding of MP3 use the codec which QuickTime has previously?

Yes. You can write a Movie importer which creates a QT movie that refers to your video and audio data within your custom file format. This works on both Mac and windows, and Apple cna host your component for auto-downlaod.
