Actually if I choose "none" from the dialog box (call to
MovieExportDoUserDialog function), I will have the same results you're
saying for an exported AVI file. However, if I use kRawCodecType or
kWindowsRawCodecType to export raw data programmatically, it won't work, I
keep receiving code -8961 (noCodecErr).

It may be that you have to specify codecNormalQuality or something like that with the raw codecs. One way to find out what the exporter is doing when you choose "none" is by calling MovieExportGetSettingsAsAtomContainer after the call to MovieExportDoUserDialog, and see what settings the exporter is using.
