Querying the "Video Settings" values for Quicktime

Hi All,

Does anyone know how to find out (programmatically) if the Quicktime
player is configured to draw via "Safe Mode (GDI Only)" or via "Direct
Draw"? These are the options that are accessed from Quicktime Player:

Edit -> Preferences -> Quicktime Preferences, then select "Video Settings"

I have a program that uses Quicktime to render movies into a Direct
Draw surface. It works perfectly when the Quicktime player is set to
direct draw but quicktime won't draw to the direct draw surface when
the quicktime player is set to Safe Mode.
