Transcode / Compress Movie Help

Hey guys.

I have spent a few days exploring the documentation and after i recovered from the cerebral damage i cannot find what i deem a seemingly simple tasks solution i want to save my movie with the M-JPEG B codec ( Tim mentioned transcoding ) does this really involve compressing each individual frame in a loop before saving the movie and if it does how do i set the codec i want and compress a frame. surely this can't be a complex task ive found huge bulky solutions ( i though it would be as simple and abstract as changing a flag to determine codec at save time ) seemingly wrong i really do need some help discovering quicktimes method for doing this.

i really appreciate any help that can be supplied i hate asking other to do my job for me but i really need someone who has done this before or something similar to point me the right way.

Thanks guys
