From what I know
QT Player on Windows at version 7 of QuickTime is using the new Apple
QuickTime ActiveX control for its
functionality. So maybe it is possible to get extra info on why the movie
doesn't open (you still have to try and open it though programmatically I
suppose and check the error result)
An idea might be to use a COM/OLE calls interceptor
(one that wraps arround a COM library and logs all method calls to its objects
and all callbacks from them) to find out how it's done by QT Player (there might
be such a product arround). Else can try using a debugger or disassembler (I
suggest IDA [Interactive Disassembler] Pro)
Have you searched the list archive (and/or googled) on
this? A very good searching tool (uses many search engines) is Copernic Agent
(www.copernic.com), it even has a free
basic version. Also Copernic Meta is nice cause you can define more search
engines yourself using a query URL format
string
cheers,
George
