We are writing an application that needs to get the album PID (Persistent ID) of songs from the iTunes library.
Unfortunately this information is not available in the xml file, so we need to parse the main library file.
Does anyone knows how the library file is layed out? It obviously looks compressed, but I couldn’t find any info on it on google or the list.

This isn't really a QuickTime question but...

My understanding is that the XML file is considered to be the only "public" (such as it is) interface to the iTunes library, and that the library file is private and its format could change at any time (and probably already has at least once so far). The stock answer is that if you need information not included in the XML file, you should file a bug with Apple and perhaps they'll update the XML file in a future version of iTunes.
