QT attempting to open non-existing resource files

Looking for some help
I am using the QT/Windows SDK and am having the following problem.
When I open a movie (with OpenMovieFile) QT attempts to open multiple
non-existent resource files resulting in poor performance for my customer's
custom file system. For instance, if I open the movie
"c:\mymovie.mov", QT will also attempt to open files "c:\mymovie.QTR",
"c:\mymovie.mov.#res", "c:\%mymovie.mov", "c:\RESOURCE.FRK\mymovie.mov",
"c:\.resource\mymovie.mov", "c:\.HSResource\mymovie.mov", etc.

These files are self-contained, single-fork movies (even tried making
the movies "Fast Start" by moving the resource to the beginning of the
file).

Is there an alternate way I can open files or create them to prevent
this problem?

Thanks in advance,
-billy
