That's correct. Some of the scom's are culled from the list because
they are a subset of 'lpcm' (fl32, fl64, in24, in32, sowt, twos).
What caused such differences? There seems to be also text encoding
issue...(tm or micro mark is not ascii characters)

Note that when you use AudioConverter or SCAudio, it will prefer
aenc's over scom's when an aenc is present for the desired
compression format.
But when I use AudioFormatGetProperty with
kAudioFormatProperty_EncodeFormatIDs;

What text encoding are you using to print these out? Do you still
get these problems if you use UTF8?
