Is QTKit better or worse in this respect?

For VDC class USB devices (USB 2 cameras that conform to the VDC spec), IIDC devices, HDV devices, and DV devices, it behaves much better. You are notified as devices come and go.

What's VDC? Acronym finder doesn't list it.
