Re: Kona3 compression latency

Brad,

I suppose I will have to. I thought I will avoid this old low-level sequence grabber stuff, because I'm actually developing in Cocoa and all I need is CIImage preview frame.

But I guess there is no other way to get really "live" preview without delay. Nevertheless, is it expected to have 1 second latency from ProRes compressor?

Have you looked at the Sequence Grabber video channels' VideoBottleNeck callbacks?

Hi all,

I'm using AJA Kona3 to preview & capture incoming HD video with Sequence Grabber (getting frames from video data proc to display them in gl context). All works fine while capturing uncompressed. But once I set a video compression I get a huge latency of about 1 second.

I need a live preview without any unnecessary delay for my app.

Is there a way to get a frame before sequence grabber compresses it (in cv or gl form)?
Or is there a way to lower latency by somehow setting compressor to buffer less frames?
Or is the only way to avoid sq compression and compress on my own just before storing to disk?

I would appreciate any pointers in right direction.

Thanks, Vlado
