Multichannel audio recordings?

Hi there,

I am planning to adapt my SpeechRecorder application to record more than two channels. For this, the software has been installed on a Windows XP machine running Java 1.4.1 and QTJava 6.0.2. The audio card we are using is a DELTA TDIF by M-Audio, a PC- and Mac-compatible 8 channel digital audio card.

When I open the QuickTime settings dialog, I see a list of input devices all related to the card. The first is a so-called Multichannel device, the others are pairs of channels: 1/2, 3/4, 5/6 and 7/8. I cannot select the multichannel device, but any number of the others. However, when I actually do a recording, only one of the pairs is used for input. The QT settings dialog only allows "mono" or "stereo" in the "source" panel...

So, here is my question: Can I do multichannel recordings with QTJava? If so, how do I set the source and device parameters?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Christoph
