Newbie Q: How to preload QT movie?

Sorry this may be a too-basic question for this list, but can anyone stear me
in the right direction?

Basically, I'm frustrated with Netscape and IE's lack of feedback to the user
when loading a long QT movie, sometimes they show a QT placeholder, and
sometimes there's some kind of load-progress bar in the window but not always.
I'd like to be able to show a "be patient while movie loads screen/animation"
while I preload my QT movie in the background, and then switch to the QTMovie
page when the movie is completely available. I'd like to use basic HTML or
JavaScript to acomplish this.

Can anyone show me some code, or point me at a web-resource that can help me?
