Re: DESPERATION: QTSession.open() CRASHES on XP

Put some code to print out JVM version etc. from inside your
application, using the System class, so that you can see
what JVM is running your application on the client - the
class dump might contain that info already though. The
client may have several JVMs installed on their machine

See if the client PC contains many JARs and DLLs of QTJava
(Search for QTJava*.* on their disks)

BTW, If you want to be sure what JVM runs your Java
application and let the users select a JVM (specifying
constraints on which are shown to the user), plus remember
last user selection to avoid selecting every time (with
option to force selection), I provide such software. A big
plus is you have an .EXE to run your app (not some batch
file) with its own custom icon etc. and you can also load
.jar/.zip archives of classes dynamically from a folder (and
all subfolders of it) placed at a relative location to the
launcher executable. If the last used JVM is uninstalled,
next time your app runs will show a menu to select JVM - if
none from those you allowed is found user will be shown a
message to install one or contact you, no crashes etc.

E-Slate (http://e-slate.cti.gr) and other software (e.g.
NeuroSyllabus, Gaia-II) is using this system (for example
Gaia-II uses arround 100 JARs with components/code, almost
15MB).

Among the supported JVMs are MS-Java and IBM Java too.
Please contact me directly if you're interested in trying it
(for its price see http://order.kagi.com/?9WA, the item
WCLSPATH+RUNJAVA)

Note that it's free for non-commercial applications (should
set up a site for it, but at the moment I'm terribly busy
...as always ;o)
