strange, maybe you downloaded the Mac examples?
anyway, can use Aladdin Expander free software to expand SIT
and HQX files

btw, 1.3.1 is backwards compatible with 1.1.8 (in general
you may see some backwards compatibility problems with Java
if you use 1.4.x, but 1.3.1.x is fine)
