Starting to figure it out...

Hi QT'ers

Thanks to everyone for all your helpful replies.

I think I've got it figured out now...

When I downloaded the "SDK" -- that's not really a good name for it --
I found that the QTJava_6.0_Win_SDK.zip only contained a Demos.zip
and a qtjavadocs.zip. Neither of these zip files contain the QTJava.zip files

So when I tried to run the demos -- you guessed it -- the didn't run.

Then I got a note from Michael Shipp suggesting that when I install QT6,
I use the custom install to get QT for Java installed. This was my problem.

When I installed QT6 a while back I didn't know that it also was the only
way to install QT for Java. It is really not clear that this is the way to install
QT for Java.

APPLE: please make clear that QT for Java is installed only when the custom
install option is selected and the Install QT for Java box is checked. I would
have never figured this out.

So I uninstalled QT6 and reinstalled it using the custome install etc.

Now the demos work and I *THINK* I can figure out how to
write a little applet -- I use JBuilder 4 for my IDE. There are
ways to integrate non-core API's into JB4.

So thanks everyone for your help and I'll probably be in touch later...

Ken Warner
