Re: QTjava.zip

Check out the Apple qt installation/download web page - QT now supports autodeployment via an ActiveX control when you use IE/Windows.

So you can have your users pass through a page that will make them install QT (should be able to pass some flag to that ActiveX control to force QTJava installation [I hope]) and then navigate to your QTJava-aware page

There's also a QTCheck ActiveX control that one can use in a web page to detect QuickTime (for a way to search for various QuickTime versions in various web browsers/platforms, see the Apple site or search the QuickTimeVR mailing list archives - it's a classic discussion there)

If you want to use a Java only solution, try HotMedia from IBM (it's in Java-only flavor too). Will need to use only a small subset of the encoders QT supports though, maybe just CinePak or something like that

It's logical that you need QuickTime to playback QT movies. Reimplementing QT (and all encoders/decoders) in pure Java would be a huge download anyway (and a total mess in speed/performance)
