performance breakdown when displaying time.

hi there,

I am trying to make a java quicktime player that shows the current time of
the movie (like the original qt-player does).

I was using the awt-component (not swing) to play the movie and performance
is ok. But when I implemented the timer and a label for displaying the
current time of the movie the performance goes down extremely (especially on
older iMacs). I've got the book "Quicktime for Java - A Developer's
Notebook" by Chris Adamson and used the "Show a movie's curren time" example
that uses a swing-timer to update the label (every 250ms).

When I load the movie in the real QT-Player, it plays with good performance
(although there's a time-display).

Any ideas for an implementation with better performance??
