Re: Current State of Quicktime for Java

I've been working a lot with QuickTime for Java over the past few months. See <https://amateur.dev.java.net/>

Based on that IMHO QuickTIme for Java may be adequate for adding a little QuickTime functionality to an existing app. It's also helpful if you want to write cross-platform code. However, there are definite limitations you will have to accept if you go this route. For instance basic operations like saving a file are broken by design. Much functionality is either buggy or missing.

Possibly Java+Cocoa would work better than java+Swing. I don't know. In any case, Cocoa-Java is now abandonware. I suspect serious development in QuickTime needs to use Objective-C and the standard QuickTime APIs.
