Re: ITunes TV files




I suspect Apple go to some lengths to ensure you can't open these files. I guess that while they were able to let you open and play DRM-protected audio files while preventing you from saving them they weren't able to do the same for video files and so the only way to protect them was by preventing you from opening them.

Snapz Pro X, which Apple bundles with some Macs, was able to copy the video track of the movie quite easily (i.e. I was able to record a movie of the movie). You could probably combine this with Audio Hijack Pro and a little AppleScript to rip the complete movie. Not incredibly convenient since you can't really use the Mac for anything else while the movie is recording (maybe if you had two monitors you could) but it certainly looks doable.
