Re: I/ON Media Player Framework

Right, because we all have time to rewrite XML parsers and HTTP code over and over again, not to mention complex media playback frameworks.

XML parsers are built into modern VMs so that's not an issue. Media playback frameworks are core to what you're doing, so that's reasonable. HTTP frameworks: maybe, maybe not. It depends on how much you're using. HttpClient is a nice library. However for many use cases it's overkill, and java.net.URL and java.net.HttpURLConnection are sufficient. I'll scan your code and try and figure out whether they might be sufficient for I/ON or not.

It's OK to use a major framework that you really use. however, all too often I see projects that have pulled in huge dependencies to save reinventing one class or a couple of methods. I also see a lot of libraries that try to do too much and create humongous, incomprehensible do-everything frameworks instead of small, focused pieces of functionality. Swing libraries are an especial offender here. Where this applies or doesn't apply in I/ON, I'll have to scan the code to find out.
