I installed the standalone version and my application works fine. (on Win XP).
Is there anyway to get the version number right when checking from the player?
For example, if i extract the installation and change the ProductVersion in setup.ini.
Will it display the correct info when i install it?

The fix for this should now be available with the iTunes 6.0.1 update (it includes a QT 7.0.3 with a rebuilt QTJ).
Thanks for the notification, Bill. This is working for me. I ran the combined iTunes/QT installer on Win XP Home (running under Virtual PC).
run-ch01-qtversioncheck: [java] QT version: 7.0 [java] QTJ version: 6.1
I'd be interested to know if anyone can report success sing the QT standalone installer without iTunes.
When I first clicked the QuickTime Update from the taskbar, it said no new version was available.
