Re: Broadband



Sorry for the subject line change, but I got hamfisted and trashed the originals. I believe it was Collin that asked how a satellite could handle the millions of dish-based broadband users in a large city like Phoenix. The answer is that there is no satellite, the transceiver is on a mountain south of town.

What you're describing, and David's Norsat thing, are both quite different from the DirecTV satellite broadband that people actually subscribe to. I wasn't saying that you can't have a satellite link, after all there are satellite telephones, I was just trying to be clear about the satellite broadband that most people have, and those systems don't have a transmitter aspect to them, except over telephones lines).
