Sorry for the subject line change, but I got hamfisted and trashed the originals. I believe it was Collin that asked how a satellite could handle the millions of dish-based broadband users in a large city like Phoenix. The answer is that there is no satellite, the transceiver is on a mountain south of town.

What you're describing, and David's Norsat thing, are both quite different from the DirecTV satellite broadband that people actually subscribe to.
