i don't really care what gets discussed, but I am just wondering,
what does Lucent have to do with Quicktime,
Absolutely nothing.
am I missing something? Does Lucent use a lot of QT, did they
invent it and sell it to Apple at some point? Do they own a chunk of
Apple?
This is one of those "Here's a company going out of business, maybe
Apple should by them things" that Apple websites and people on lists
seem to like indulging in. F*d company doesn't have any info on it
(and they're all about rumors) and none of the major news sites have
picked it up, so it's not very reliable. We'll see what happens
Monday morning.
Even if Lucent is going out of business, this isn't the sort of
company that Apple has been purchasing lately. It's very unlikely
they'd waste money on Lucent. I say waste because if Lucent is
laying 50000 people off, why don't you just hire them? Apple's not
going to get into the mobile phone or PDA business (despite the
constant barrage of articles and fake screenshots that appear on the
web). And with the current economic climate, a purchase of this
magnitude would destroy Apple in the markets. There's already enough
heat on them because of executive stock sales and Ellison's
resignation this week, Apple doesn't need any more attention in this
sector.
And since this has nothing to do with Quicktime, I'll apologize in
advance for continuing this. I hope it ends.
Sorry,
Matthew
