Hopefully, someone may have an idea here for me. I built an applescript
application for our athletics department that involves video. One tweak I'd
like to make is this, display a QuickTime movie on an external TV monitor.
The TV monitor is currently connected to a Sony DV cam, which is being used
to both import and export video edited on the Mac to an S-VHS VCR. So, with
the Camera currently connected to the Mac via FireWire, is there anyway I
can get a QuickTime movie display through the FireWire connection.
Obviously something like this is possible as this works with Final Cut Pro
or iMovie (the video will display as it's being played in those app) but I'd
like to the same thing but using QT Player instead.

Any free (or cheap) ideas? I know this may sound off the wall, but in the
context of what we are doing, it would be a nice perk. BTW, video mirroring
wouldn't work.

Why do you need QuickTime Player to do this?

If you do not absolutely need QuickTime Player just use FCP.

FCP sends DV compressed images to the firewire device so if for any reason your source file is not DV it will need to be rendered to DV in the timeline.
