Hello

The Ars Electronica Center is the only one sheduling exibitions of artists
like Maurice Benayoun, owner of Z-A studio in Paris and virtual reality
wizard who made the famous 'World Skin' with Jan Baptiste Barriere.
Litz permanent exibition is also one of the two museums open to the people
(the other is the ICC owned by the Japan NTT) and perhaps the only place for
playing a custom version of Quake but Is is not a state_of_the_art unit at
all.
It's driven by PC's and has (AFAIK) three walls (the fourth is open); allows
stereoscopic vision and the point of view set by a sensors mounted on the
player's glasses but High end Caves are those made by EVL, which developed
the first one in 1991 (Sigrgaph 1992) thanks to Dan Sandin (now co-director
of EVL) Carolina Cruz-Neira and Tom Fanti.
EVL is newly empowering the future with a new generation of CAVE:
affordable one screen caves showned by the Future lab and the above
mentioned Z-A studio while other (even) artistic resarch is due to the SUNNY
of Buffalo (university of Illinois) or the Stutgart (Germany, where
Mercedes-Benz is established:-) Fraunhofer institute.

**This is not Quick Time**

Generally Caves have from 2 to 6 walls (one is always left open)
They use stereoscopic images computed by an SGI Onyx with a Graphic engine
of 'Infinite Reality' and projections by many CRT Barco to avoid shadows.
Players wear 3D Glasses and have the scene perspective mapped in real time
by motion tracking system like those made by Ascension or Polhemus

Ok i stop myself here for not going so far out of topic:-)
