(I sent this last week but didn't see any responses. Am I the only one
who has experienced this?)
I have a QT movie that I haven't watched in awhile... I think it's
about
1min 16seconds, but it doesn't play anymore. It jumps right to the
end as
soon as it is opened. I renamed it to 'foo.avi' and Windows Media
Player
gave me the sound, but no picture.
I was trying a bunch of different things, including trying to export
it to
an MP4, but when I tried to do that it said that it couldn't because
the
movie has an "incorrect duration"
Is there any way to fix this? I have QT 6.4 (registered) on WinXP.
If Quicktime can't play it, it can't export it.
It sounds like you have a movie with an MP3 track (or maybe an
uncompressed audio track?), which Windows Media can play with it's
limited .mov support. However, the fact that Quicktime can't display
the video is suspicious... do you get an error when you open the movie?
I suggest you try installing the 3ivx codec for Windows, as it sounds
like you may have a DiVX .avi, which was somehow renamed as a .mov, and
then back again. That or more info is necessary.
As for does this happen to others - movies don't just break, so
something happened to it, or your playback environment, to break this
specific flavor of movie. It may not even be a proper Quicktime movie
at all, from your description.
If you post a link I'd be happy to take a peak.
Also, are you able to play other Quicktime content, for instance from
Apple's movie trailer site? That would tell us something.
