QuickTime nag-screen and lisencing situation

How often? The nag-screen interval has changed over the years and at one time/version, Apple stated that the nag-screen would only appear the first time QuickTime was activated. This is however not the current situation I believe.

Happy if someone could publish the current nag-screen interval, as well as Apples current policy on the matter.

The nag-screen situation has us worried. Most of our corporate clients are (understandably) not willing to handle the repeating nag and as long as a site lisencing program is non-exsisting and there is no other way to handle lisencing in large networks this will probably result in the use of diffent technologies (i.e. Flash) in most of our multimedia projects. This is really sad, because we would like to use the best dynamic media platform available, but are forced by Apple to look elsewhere.

Just last week we lost a significant amount of money due to the fact that a large client cancelled an order and was unwilling to install QuickTime on all its PCs to run one of our interactive QuickTime CDs. Due to this situation, our management will probably restrict the use of QuickTime in our end products in the future in order for us to be able to make money.

The fact that Apple does not realise that its current lisence strategy has major flaws puzzles me.

Sincerely,

Kjell Are Refsvik
