Possible reasons for 'choppy' playback of QT progressive download?

About 1 in 10 customers of mine (that I know of) complain that the video is
playing very choppy. They do have very fast internet access in both cases
1.5MBit + but for some reason are experienceing choppy playback. I know it
could be a variety of reasons, but it's tough to troubleshoot because in one
case, it's a potential customer for our video service, so it's hard to
'sell' them something if you are having to troubleshoot it.

My guesses are that they have some old DirectX, or slow video/cpu, or ?

Any ideas?
